So with my due date looming ever closer, and feeling some changes in my body, knowing this baby is not far off. Even the delivery men, have started asking me how long I have left. My husband and I have gone into nesting overdrive. He has been getting into the nesting spirit, in his own male way, with, painting the driveway, mowing and fertilizing the lawn, cleaning up the garage and making any last purchases of things he wants before the baby arrives.
So meanwhile I have been finalizing my work, having last appointments, and getting the house clean and orderly. Trying my best to keep calm. Reminds me of those last days before our wedding, running about trying to make sure everything was ready to go.
The lovely people at Method (an Australian green, sustainable, cleaning product company) sent me some sample of their gorgeous cleaning products to try, which couldn’t come at a better time, while I get the house in tip top condition ready for the baby. There packaging is beautiful, and their products smell amazing! As soon as I opened the box I could smell them, and not that overpowering chemical small that makes you feel a little unwell, no these smell wonderful! And so perfect for someone who is pregnant and wants to use products that are non-toxic, but still work really well.
The bathroom is often my least favourite place to clean. I find most bathroom cleaning products make me sneeze, cough or not feel so good, even with the window open for ventilation. I have tried some of the ‘natural’ brands from the supermarket, but even they seem to upset me. And being pregnant, it worries me that I am breathing in things I shouldn’t. Now I wish I knew about method sooner, as there bathroom cleaners, are defiantly one I would want to use again, they smell beautiful, in a natural not so chemical way, with scents of mint, eucalyptus and ylang, and no more sneezing and coughing :) My nose is happy.
You may have also spotted in the picture the cute tear drop shaped hand wash, so pretty, and the handwash is nice and light, perfect for sitting by the sink! Their bottles are made from recycled plastic, so not only is it pretty but also sustainable.
Being someone who cooks daily, the kitchen is always the part of the house to get super messy, super fast! Now that I am in nesting mode, I have actually been keeping it pretty good (my parents will be proud). I even cleaned the fridge out!!
Method sent me two beautiful all-purposes cleaners, which are my kitchen essentials, as the do most surfaces from the counter tops, to the hot plates and sink. These two are lavender and grapefruit, mmmm, and work amazingly well! Made from biodegradable ingredients from things like corn and coconut. Pretty cool!
By the sink is more cute hand wash, and dish soap, to get those dishes smelling good and keep my sink de-clutterd. It smells of currents!mm and isn’t that bottle just wonderful. Being a designer, I can’t help but fall for products with nice packaging.
I went rather nuts in the laundry, making it spotless, as I know once the baby comes, this room is going to get a lot of use with dirty baby clothes. I even cleaned the washing machine, getting any grime stuck in the corners out. And of course washed all the baby clothes and blankets. Method‘s detergent, is just bliss, no more OMO power stuck in all the corners of the machine, just a nice soft, sweet smelling liquid (water lily + aloe), made of gentle plant based materials. And of course, cute bottle design!
Naw little clothes hanging to dry.
I love the big tiled floor in our house, just a quick mop, and it looks great. The tiles we had in our last house where so much harder to keep nice, things just seemed to stick to them too easily. I got to try out Method’s floor cleaner, a nice soft ginger smell, and did the floor really nicely. Ahh sparkly and clean! At least until someone walks more dirt in. Or I spill something, in my clumsy pregnant state (just the other day I spilled yogurt across the kitchen floor, lovely sticky mess)
And the never ending vacuuming job, which I keep having to re-do, since a certain person keeps bring grass into the house!
AND THOSE FINAL TOUCHES TO THE NURSERY
Method sent me this very cute little bottle of baby lotion. So adorable! And smells of rice milk and mallow (which makes a sort of playdough smell). So yummy, will make the baby smell nice, and its gentle on soft skin.
All I need to do now for the nursery is make the mobile. I have got all the bits together, and have now started cutting up the fabric ready to sew up, so I hope to make it in the next few days, all depending how things go, and when the baby decides its time to come into the world.
Now I just need to make my dad happy, and clean the windows! (hehe, family in-joke)
